Eric and Marsha Eberhardt helped establish The Gentle Rain in 1979. The business grew quickly and moved to a larger space at 30 Rebecca Street in 1989. A few renovations and additions later, we are still growing. This year we celebrate 36 years in business!!!

In July 2010, Eric passed away. He will always be remembered by customers and staff for all of his accomplishments with the store and in the community.

In July 2014, Marsha made the decision to retire, selling the store to Brendan Davidson.

BRENDAN, OWNER
In July 2014, Brendan Davidson purchased the Gentle Rain from Marsha. Brendan grew up in his mothers health food store in Guelph (The Stone Store) and acquired Green Valley Health & Herbs in Elmira, ON in 2005.

We happily support local farms and businesses and promote environmentally friendly products and utilities.

SARA is the Supplement Manager and has been with the store for over 20 years. She is our resident supplement nerd and is constantly reading and taking trainings to keep up to date with new products as well as new research.

BECKY has been a valued employee here for 25+ years packaging all of our bulk flours, grains, nuts & seeds, spices & herbs. She is a dedicated employee and takes pride in her work. She loves to tell jokes and has a wonderful laugh.

ANITA has been passionate about Health & Nutrition for over 35 years.  Anita helps out in the supplement room and is very knowledgable to help customers when they are dealing with food restrictions. She is able to help our customers with gluten free and vegan options as well as other areas in the store.

ADRIENNE is one of the purchasers in the supplement room. She has a wealth of knowledge in all areas of the store. Having cats & a dog, she can help you with natural products for your pets as well.

NANCY is the Office Manager ~ taking care of our website, webcart & much more behind the scenes.

DEBI is our main grocery purchaser. Looking for something you don't see on the shelves (grocery area)? Get a message to Debi and she will do what she can to find it for you.

BARB is our Grocery Manager, multi-tasking receiving, ordering & researching new products. Having a passion for the health industry, Barb continues to gain knowledge to educate herself about natural products. Barb is currently off on maternity leave ~ long story.

LAURIE is a huge part of our grocery team & purchaser of our meat! You will see her doing webcart orders, as well as organizing other areas of the store. Watch out for her great sense of humour!

JARED is our part-time muscle. He assists us in every area of the store, from receiving orders to stocking the shelves. He has been a great addition to our staff and even taking on purchasing our bread!

RUTH is our lovely part time cashier. Look for her functional works of art, "Creations by Ruth" available for sale here at The Gentle Rain.

ALICIA is part of the supplement staff. She is a Holistic Nutritionist and one of the purchasers in the store ~ and has wealth of information. We are blessed to have her knowledge and her organizational skills.

DONNA has returned to help in all areas of the store. She loves to stock in the produce, especially the apples ~ you'll have to ask her why. She is a very hard worker and we appreciate all that she does for us.

ABBY is our part-timer ~ helping out in every area of the store. She is a Holistic Nutritionist and has a wealth of information to share.

WENDY is our bulk purchaser. She is passionate about organizing and has an attention to detail that is a huge benefit for us.
